Friday Free Time: How ’90s Indie Kids Used To Say, ‘I Love You’

This is a genuine Valentines Day card, I received from a lovely ex-boyfriend in the early ’90s. He made it with some kind of thread or strips of fabric, which he glued down, and melted red wax onto the black card. It reads, ‘My Bloody Valentine’.

On the inside, he glued a red, silky fabric background over which he scribed the message, ‘I love you, though I couldn’t possibly say when my heart’s so strong and my head so weak’, which was a quote from a letter I had previously sent to him.

Needless to say, my indie/crustie/goth teen self was pretty chuffed when I received this through the post! ❤
